Are you looking for a fulfilling career and have experience ensuring an operation runs smooth? The Arizona State Veteran Home – Flagstaff (ASVH-F) is looking for you to be their next Business Office Manager!

As the Business Officer Manager you will work closely with the ASVH Administrator and regularly consult with the Chief Financial Officer to oversee the day-to-day accounts receivable (billing and collection) functions of an Arizona State Veteran Home, a skilled nursing facility. As an Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services employee you will lead a team while incorporating a cultural focus on Veteran/Member-centered care in the performance of job duties. While being a State of Arizona employee you will learn, implement and monitor Arizona Management System (AMS) methods and utilize AMS concepts and tools for problem solving and continuous work/process improvements and efficiencies.

Job Duties:
  • Prepares or assists with the preparation of operating and ancillary budgets for the Home.
  • Coordinates all accounts receivable functions for the home to ensure timely and accurate billing/collection of Veteran/Member accounts according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Oversees posting, balancing and reconciling of records; directly inputs financial data into computerized systems.
    Prepares monthly reports.
  • Maintains consistent and clear communication with Administrator, CFO and additional groups such as auditors and surveyors
  • Participates in writing department policies and procedures.
  • Sets up and monitors internal controls.
  • Ensures compliance with accepted accounting principles and standards, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines, third-party payer rules and federal, state and VA rules and regulations.
  • Directs the financial aspects of the admissions process, ensuring admissions are financially eligible and able to pay for their care; meets with Veteran/Member families or responsible parties to discuss billing questions.
  • Works with various departments across agency such as Social Services and Veterans’ Services Divisions
  • Oversees staff to include providing training and support and conducting monthly 1:1 coaching and evaluations
  • Attends and facilitates a variety of meetings such as the monthly Accounts Receivable Meeting and staff meetings

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Requires the ability to obtain and retain a valid AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • This position requires the ability to drive on State business. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see A.AC. R2-10-207.11).
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
